Kelly says Civil War leaders just needed to compromise The Guardian
Has he never heard of the Missouri Compromise? The Wilmot Proviso? The Dread Scott decision? Popular Sovereignty? Apparently they don’t teach American history at West Point anymore. Or maybe Kelly’s been hanging with Trump too long, and crazy is contagious.
From the Guardian:
Kelly said that Robert E. Lee, general of the Confederate Army during the American Civil War, “was a man that gave up his country to fight for his state”.
“It was always loyalty to state first back in those days,” said Kelly, while adding: “But the lack of an ability to compromise led to the Civil War. And men and women of good faith on both sides made their stand where their conscience had to make their stand.”

Watergate prosecutor: Case against Manafort a “slam dunk”
and for sure Papadopoulus has been wearing a wire AlterNet
“It’s quite obvious that Mueller is playing this out very skillfully,” Nick Akerman explained. “First of all that [Manafort] indictment is a slam-dunk, as I said before, it’s proven by documents. But then you look at the Papadopoulos one that they put under seal all of this time.”
“He’s pled guilty, pled guilty to a felony, lying to the FBI,” Akerman continued. “He’s basically, if you looked through his allocution, you have allocute. They don’t name names, it’s against Justice Department policy to do that. But he refers to campaign officials, other officials — it’s very obvious he has information on lots of people and on top of that, he’s been cooperating since July.
“If I were the prosecutor, and I guarantee you Robert Mueller has done this, he’s had him out there wearing a body wire, playing dial-a-crook on the phone, trying to get recorded conversations to use as evidence against other people,” he asserted. “If I were the other people, and they know who they are in that information, I’d be extremely nervous right now.”

“The last time the Earth experienced a comparable concentration of CO2 was 3-5 million years ago, the temperature was 2-3°C warmer and sea level was 10-20 meters higher than now.”

“For any poor souls following this on a map, runners and walkers will have the 10th District, represented by Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-Lincoln, on their right on the outbound leg and the 11th District of Rep. Mark Meadows, R-Buncombe, on their left.”
In total coincidence, woman who opposed Putin gunned down. NY Times
KIEV, Ukraine — A prominent couple who were fierce critics of President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia and who narrowly escaped an assassination attempt in June was attacked again on Monday. This time an assailant killed the wife and wounded the husband.
The couple, Amina Okuyeva and Adam Osmayev, had gained prominence in Ukraine as committed foes of both Mr. Putin and of the leader of the Russian region of Chechnya, Ramzan A. Kadyrov.
The attack was the latest in a string of assassinations and attempted assassinations in Ukraine, which the authorities in Kiev have mostly blamed on Russian special services. The murder of Ms. Okuyeva was the second attack in less than a week.
Rose McGowan, Weinstein accuser, says arrest is attempt to silence her Newsweek
Rose McGowan faces an arrest warrant just weeks after she leveled rape allegations against movie mogul Harvey Weinstein—and she can’t help but think the two are connected.
Airport police reportedly discovered traces of narcotics among personal items McGowan left behind at Washington Dulles International Airport earlier this year, according to a report from Deadline. Officials from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department told the outlet they have reached out to ask McGowan to make a court appearance in Virginia on a felony charge.
“Are they trying to silence me?” McGowan tweeted on Monday. “There is a warrant out for my arrest in Virginia. What a load of horseshit.”
